Shelters/Day Yards
The Australian climate means our animals need protection from the sun as well as the wind and rain. The modern horse shelter needs to provide maximum shade, ventilation and drainage as well as looking good and fitting into a budget.
From stallion yards to pony paddocks Giddiup can tailor make shelters or yards for any situation. If you have fourty polo ponies, your requirements are going to be very different to the needs of an owner with show ponies or warmblood dressage horses. Giddiup can provide the right solution for each equine sport, each client and each location.
Our popular shelter adaptations include large stallion shelters that function as a horse stable in the stallions own paddock. They can have all the fittings of a traditional stable such as automatic water, lights, built in feed bins, rug racks and double doors, but they have the added advantage of not needing to house the stallion near other horses.
“Open plan living” or rows of stalls with solid half walls under one long roof is another popular option for properties that need to stable large numbers of horses . This style is also well suited to places with a warm climate.
For those horses that need protection from their neighbors the “open plan” can be accessorized with custom made bars between the stalls to reduce the horses’ access to each other.
However, the traditional “walk in walk out” shelter in a paddock never goes out of fashion.
